Immanuel is seeking a warm, friendly, part-time (25 hours a week) Parish Coordinator who will work with our pastor, volunteers, church treasurer, financial secretary, building superintendent and ministry assistant .

Position: Parish Coordinator (part-time)
Location: Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO, 64111
Hours worked per week: 25
Hourly wage: $15 with potential for increase after a 60-day evaluation period
Benefits: 2 weeks (50 hours) paid vacation per year
Reports to: Pastor
Works closely with: Pastor, church office volunteers, lay volunteer leaders, church treasurer and financial
secretary, building superintendent and ministry assistant
Responsibilities:
Office Management
○ Responsible for phones, copier, subscriptions, and supplies for worship and office
○ Handle incoming calls, mail and email
○ Support church treasurer in an accounts-payable role
○ Assist church financial secretary with data entry, record keeping and special mailings
○ Maintain Shepherd’s Staff membership database, Constant Contact email database and church directory
○ Maintain professional appearance of church office
○ Attend weekly staff meetings
Liaison to Congregation and Community
○ Meet/greet visitors, answer calls and emails, and take messages
○ Develop basic knowledge of church activities and services as well as knowledge about who to ask for requested information
○ Offer information and referrals to people in need. Maintain a list of organizations that can help individuals seeking financial aids, food, etc.
Communication
○ Write, layout, publish and mail a monthly newsletter
○ Prepare and send Constant Contact email to the congregation
○ Prepare/post Facebook events
○ Maintain and update website on regular, ongoing basis
○ Update churchwide Google calendar, and create/post weekly event calendars throughout the church building
○ Prepare bulletins for weekly Sunday worship, funerals, weddings and special services
○ Develop fliers, posters, brochures, etc., as needed
○ Monitor ongoing property maintenance projects, and facilitate communication between contractors and relevant staff and committees
Facility Coordination and Scheduling
○ Schedule events for congregation and community/outside groups
○ Ensure the smooth, safe and efficient use of the building in close communication with the building superintendent
Qualifications:
● Strong people skills: warm, friendly and helpful on the phone and in person
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to self-start, work independently without supervision, and meet deadlines
● Capability to prioritize tasks effectively
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Publisher. Familiarity with GoDaddy website builder and Constant Contact email system a plus.
● Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
